ASTRAL FOUNDATION REACHES OUT TO THE MARCUS INSTITUTE
ATLANTA, GA – October 20, 2006 – In their continuing quest to improve the futures of children throughout the world, The Astral Foundation is pleased to announce a donation of $10,000 to The Marcus Institute. Founded by renowned philanthropist Bernie Marcus, it focuses on the treatment of children with developmental disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, spina bifida and learning disabilities, as well as children with severe behavioral problems, feeding disorders and fetal alcohol syndrome. Already the largest facility of its kind in the Southeast, The Marcus institute continues to achieve national recognition for their comprehensive diagnosis, therapy and care for a wide range of developmental and learning problems. Their affiliation with the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta and Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore affords access to the best medical and academic minds in the nation. According to Robert Cohen, CEO of Astral Brands and one of the founders of the Astral Foundation, "The Marcus Institute provides not only excellent treatment for children with disabilities, but also offers vital support services for the parents of these children."
Astral Foundation founders Bob and Christie Cohen are well known throughout Atlanta not only as successful entrepreneurs, but also as dedicated philanthropists. "Our priority is improving the quality of life for children in need," comments Christie. Powered by Christie Cohen’s television appeals and the efforts of the fifty-two nationwide Aloette franchise presidents, the Astral Foundation has raised over $30,000 in the brief period since its inception on January 1st of last year. Other organizations which have benefited from their combined efforts include the Save the Children Foundation, the Hope Shelter in Texas, HANDY (Helping Abused and Neglected Dependent Youth) in Florida, Make-A-Wish Foundation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
